- 2 can condensed milk — 397 g cans
- 2 can evaporated milk — 354 ml cans

Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F).

Make the caramel

- 2 tbsp water
In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and cook over medium heat, without stirring, until it melts and turns a golden caramel color.

Coat the mold

Carefully pour the hot caramel into the bottom of the flan mold and tilt it to coat evenly.

Blend the custard

- 2 can condensed milk
- 2 can evaporated milk
In the blender, add the eggs, the condensed milk, and the evaporated milk. Blend until smooth and well combined.

Pour into the mold

Pour the mixture over the caramel in the mold.

Set the water bath

Place the mold inside a larger tray and pour hot water into the tray, halfway up the sides of the mold.

Bake
Bake at 200 °C (400 °F) for about 1 hour. Check the center: it should be almost set, with a slight jiggle.

Chill & unmold
Let the flan cool and refrigerate until well chilled. Run a knife around the edges and flip it onto a serving platter.
This is the flan that never misses a ranch gathering. The secret is blending everything very well and being patient with the caramel — over medium heat and unhurried until it takes on that golden color. Adjust the slices for however many come to the table; the numbers recalculate on their own.
